June Art Exhibits

We welcome Debbi Muirzyn and her mosaics to the gallery!

After a career in graphic design, Debbi dove headfirst into the wonderfully messy world of mosaics—because, she says, “what’s retirement without a little tile, glass, and grout?”  She draws her inspiration from relationships, nature, and the occasional existential ponder, so that each mosaic has something to say, blending thoughtful storytelling with texture and color.

“My inspiration for this exhibit, bleeding hearts, comes from living in Santa Fe, being surrounded by religious and traditional folk art. I was curious about the original meaning of sacred hearts and, after researching the history, my modern-day versions are intended to remind us to practice compassion, kindness and brotherhood,” she says.

The Sacred Heart captured her attention— both for its beauty and its powerful symbolism. Curious about its original meaning, Debbi explored the history behind the image, where devotion, suffering, and love are intertwined through flame, light, and vulnerability.

Her modern interpretations of the Bleeding Heart reimagine this symbol for our present moment. “By honoring a traditional form while reshaping its message, I hope to create space for reflection, connection, and shared humanity across beliefs and backgrounds,” she says.
