Tech Time: Electronic New Year's Resolutions

This year, resolve to complete two tech housekeeping resolutions. Both of which are perfect for the cooped-up winter months.
Set up a Password Wallet - they are more secure, help you organize, and create encrypted passwords. This is not your browser keeping passwords for you, but a dedicated app. Such as mSecure, Apple Passwords, or Microsoft Password Manager. Aim for 5 entries a day - that’s 150 by the end of January! Much better than handwritten password books or a spreadsheet no one will find when the time is critical… — Hint: We will be covering Password Wallets at the January “IT Security Class."
Which brings us to the second resolution, completing a critical life workbook. With a free holiday gift from us, you can download the Workbook for free here. This is the Workbook provided for several years to attendees of the “Departing in the Digital Age” class. It starts out as a 14-page Word or Pages document with fillable forms and space. When completed, it often stretches to over 40 pages. Covering all aspects you could think of. Invaluable for someone needing to “run your life,” if, say, you were to end up at the hospital and it would be nice to have that trusted family member or friend pay your bills, etc. — Hint: You can learn more about the Workbook at the February session of the “Departing in the Digital Age” class.
The Workbook ties right back into the Password Wallet - best to have things typed out and well organized.
FYI: The IT classes will be once a month for the first quarter of 2026 - in order to give time for the classes to be transitioned to presentation software. Which will allow us to offer downloadable versions of a class for those who could not attend. The Fix I.T. Clinic will be held as normal, prior to classes, plus there will be two additional free Clinics on the winter calendar. Always best to start at the I.T. Clinic before paying for often questionable Santa Fe tech support. You will be surprised what can be covered, and these days, often stretches into areas such as the electronics of appliances and automobiles.
