Heidi Vogel, Watercolors
This May, VGPL welcomes back Heidi Vogel with her always-popular, colorful watercolors of nature and animals.
You might recognize Vogel from other venues as well: she’s an accomplished musician and plays French horn with community and semi-professional ensembles in Santa Fe and elsewhere in the state.
Heidi was the Secretary of the State Senate for Alaska, and has lived in Hawaii, New York, and in the Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona. In all these places, her love of the outdoors shaped her art, which depicts the expansive landscapes and the creatures that dwell within. “Observing the effects of light has taught me to observe color and atmosphere in an innovative way,” she adds, saying, “Painting is teaching me to perceive the world differently, and I hope, in turn, my paintings allow viewers to expand their vision too.”
Vogel has exhibited in the Eldorado Studio Tour as well as many sites around the country including the Lahaina Arts Society in the Old Lahaina Courthouse at the Banyan Tree, on the island of Maui, Hawaii, (consumed in the August 2023 fire) and the Annual Old Church Fine Arts Show in Corrales, NM.
John Stewart Photographs
In the Wall Gallery, tour the world through the photographs of John Stewart. These framed and matted images reflect the world travels of the artist who will soon be giving a lecture at the library—stay tuned for a date in August! In the meantime, you will not find art of this quality at this price anywhere. John has graciously donated these pieces to the library and that means 100% of the proceeds go to VGPL. Thank you, John, on behalf of everyone at VGPL from staff to patrons.
