Recurring Programs

The Vista Grande Public Library is dedicated to providing quality programs to the children and families of our community. We offer a variety of programs for children, youth, young adults, adults and families.

Story Time (Toddler to Preschool)

Thursday mornings at 10:30 am in the library.

After School Reading (K-3)

This program is designed to encourage reading for pleasure and enjoyment of the library in elementary students in grades K to 3.  The meetings are on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons from 3 to 4:30 pm. Parents must register their child at the beginning of each semester for which day they want them to attend. To maintain a quality experience for participants, enrollment will be limited. The Winter/Spring Session begins February 6 and runs to May 1. Registration is now closed to new students, but parents may sign up on the wait list for any open slots.

Wags and Words - Read to a Dog! (K-5)

Got a young reader who is a beginner, or who struggles with reading aloud? Sign up your child for an appointment with a Reading Education Assistance Dog from the Pet Outreach Services of the Santa Fe Animal Shelter.

To learn more or to sign up for an open slot, call 505-466-7323 or email Tracey at libasst@vglibrary.org.

Summer Reading Program   (coming soon!)

Each summer the Library hosts a themed youth summer reading program that encourages independent and community reading, presents special events, and offers prizes for achieving milestones. Information and registration will be provided during the spring.

All Ages - Chess Club

Club meets Friday afternoons from 3-5 pm. All ages and skill levels are welcomed to learn and play. Children under 12 need parental permission; all other ages can drop in any week.

All Ages -  Movie Night

Join us for popcorn and juice as you watch a recently released movie.  Generally, Movie Night is the third Friday of the month; check the calendar for dates and film. You can also call 505-466-7323 to confirm the date, and get the film title and rating.

Adult - Technology Classes

Biweekly technology classes are offered in the Library meeting room. Please visit our web calendar for further details.

Art Exhibitions

Each month the Library hosts local artists of a variety of mediums to display and sell their artworks, with 20% of sales donated back to the library to support programs. Artist receptions are held one Saturday each month where patrons are invited to meet each artist, engage in artistic dialog and purchase unique pieces. For more information, or to apply to display artwork, visit our Art Exhibition page.
