Summer at the Library

The library was a cool place to hang out during the hot summer months this year. In June we hosted Rock Time, where community members could come ask questions and learn from geologists and archaeologists. We also had Tuesday Movie Matinees with family movies about Dinosaurs - who knew we had so many to show?
In July, we held our annual Dog Day of Summer, with various dogs with jobs to meet. Espanola Humane also came with some cute adoptable creatures. Lee Levin did another talk on healthy aging. We had a successful Grownup Movie Night, with more Tuesday matinees as well.
We also had our Annual Members Meeting, where the Board of Directors celebrate and inform the community what the library accomplished over the fiscal year and what we hope to do for the next one. New board members and new officers were voted in, although Kris Sefton will remain our president for another year.
The Summer Reading Contest ended on July 31, and it had more participants than we have seen in several years among all ages. Adults participants logged 43 books read over the two months; teens and kids logged 11,679 minutes total. Great job to all our readers - even if you forgot to log in!
