Welcome back, students and families! This Fall we are excited to be able to offer more options for our school-age community.
Library Club (aka, Cat-in-the-Hat club) will be offered on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 3:05 to 4:30 pm. The dates are September 14 to November 18 and the club is for ages K to 3. Registration is required and spaces are limited; sign up for your preferred day by printing the form here or come by the library to fill one out. Send completed forms or questions to Tracey at libasst@vglibrary.org .
Wags and Words (Read to a Dog) will also start up in September. Roxie and Runa are excited to have young readers share books with them. This is a wonderful program for beginning and reluctant readers to practice reading out loud to a loving, non-judgemental audience. It's also great for dog-loving kids, too! Call 505-466-7323 or come by the library to sign up for an appointment.
Spanish Story Time is new this year. Bilingual educator Clara Evans is offering this program on Thursdays from 3:05 to 4 pm for registered students Grades 2 to 8. Each week, students will listen to a story read aloud in Spanish while participating in fun discussions, making predictions, acting out parts of the story, learning new vocabulary, and enjoying simple language games. This interactive class welcomes children with little or no Spanish experience as well as those who already know some Spanish. Please note that this is not a language learning class. Class begins September 10 to October 29; registration is required for this free program and you can register at the library.
And even if you aren't taking part in a registered program, families are always welcome Tuesday through Friday after school for in-library activities like the train table, legos, puzzles and coloring, as well as checking out books and DVDs. Come on by!
