July Show

The Vista Grande Public Library (VGPL) will host two Eldorado at Santa Fe artists July 6 – 31 in the lobby glass case.

Kimberly B. Gray - Custom Pet Portraiture

Kimberly B. Gray has become known for her Pet Portrait Miniatures with Easels, Acrylic on Canvas, 3”x3”. Displayed at the VGPL is her German Shepherd Susie Grace (see image) and her Tortoiseshell cat, Simone Bolivar.

Kimberly is an artist and designer living in Eldorado at Santa Fe for over nine years now. She studied art and design and history preservation at Ursuline College in Pepper Pike, Ohio. Also, she studied with Jacqueline Freedman, a well-known artist in Cleveland, Ohio. Kimberly is an Allied Member of ASID, American Society of Interior Designers.

John Segell - Whimsical Ceramic Dog Heads

John Segell was previously scheduled to display a variety of ceramic dog heads that he created to exhibit as part of the July “Dog Days of Summer” library event. Although that event has been cancelled, John is making his whimsical dog heads available for sale. These are high-temp (cone 10) colored clay dog heads. The only glaze is a clear glaze, and the colors are obtained by mixing powdered metals (cobalt, iron, copper, chrome, zinc, rutile) into the clays. Most are about 5"x5" and sell for $75, tax included. They hang on the wall, with a proper screw provided. As a special offer to library patrons, John will donate 15% of the pre-tax price ($10) to the library for every one sold. Pick up at John's Eldorado studio (no shipping). There are about 15 different dogs available. Patrons can contact John via email (segellceramics@gmail.com) or through his website (www.segellceramics.com) for an appointment.

John is a Santa Fe based potter who crafts decorative and functional high-temperature stoneware.   Recently retired from the hospitality industry, he is now focused on renewing his love of clay, working full time in his studio and firing his own hand-built sprung arch kiln.  John is a current member of the Eldorado Arts and Crafts Association and a longtime supporter of the VGPL Library.
