In response to the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) the Library is closed to ALL visitation from November 16, 2020 through December 1, 2020. During the closure, all regularly scheduled events and programs are cancelled. Art Exhibitions will be conducted virtually. Curbside Pickup Service - POSTPONED

This is a safe and easy way to check out materials from the library, including Museum passes.

How does the pickup process work?

  • Request library materials online or by phone at (505) 466-7323.

  • To request materials online, log into the catalog using your library card and phone number. You are required to use a password if you've established one. 

  • Select the materials from the catalog and click "Reserve."

  • Library staff will prepare your materials and notify you when they are ready for pickup. 

  • Patrons may pickup materials from the Library Main Entrance by signaling arrival at the desk provided. 

  • Once you arrive at the library and contact library staff, held items will then be checked out to your account. A receipt will be included with your items listing the due date. 

  • Cloth face coverings are required for pickup and social distancing must be maintained.

  • Please see the home page for information on "grab bags" and other "browsing alternatives."

Please allow for at least one full business day to process requests. Patron accounts are updated online or you may call the library to check on the status of your requests. 

Where do I return items and when do they get checked in?

  • Items may be returned using the drive-up book drop box or handed in at the Library Main door.

  • Items returned will be quarantined for three (3) full days before being marked as returned. This will not result in late fines but will delay the return process of your items.

  • Overdue materials may impact online use, please contact VGPL to resolve issues.

  • All materials will be disinfected before shelving occurs. 


Computer Use - POSTPONED

The Library is offering PC and MAC computer use to patrons on a limited basis.

How does the computer process work?

  • Computers are provided for critical needs, such as checking email, preparing resumes or work related documentation, conducting research and completing tests or education related assignments.

  • One of three (3) computers may be reserved (two Windows PCs and one Macintosh) and are located in socially distanced cubicles. 

  • Patrons may reserve computers in 1/2 hour increments by contacting the Library at (505) 466-7323. No patron may reserve more than one time period per day.

  • Walk-ins are accepted on a first-come first-serve basis, but only if a computer is available. Please contact the library for availability.

  • Patrons must arrive at the Library Main Entrance prior to their reserved time. Cloth face coverings are required and social distancing must be maintained at all times.

  • Patrons will be escorted by library staff to an available computer. Note, the genealogy computer is not available for ancestry research at this time.

  • After each visit, patrons will be escorted out of the building via a secondary exit.

  • The cubicle and all equipment will be disinfected according to COVID standards.

  • No appointments will be made after 3:30 pm Tuesday through Friday, or after 2:30 pm Saturday.
