The Vista Grande Public Library (VGPL) will feature two Santa Fe artists K. Shway and a group show from the Eldorado Knitting Group – April 1-30, 2022:

Co-Art Reception – Saturday, April 2 2:30-4:00 PM.  Please join us to view some remarkable work.

K. Shway – “Close to home”

"Paintings portraying the surrounds of El Dorado"

K. Shway moved to New Mexico 12 years ago and began a serious study of plein aire and landscape painting.  She studied at the American Academy of Art in Chicago.  “Plein aire painting has challenging and energizing time constraints with the changes of light.  K uses photographs to capture the warm changing light of late afternoon or the low sun of winter to create finished studio paintings.”

During the pandemic times she has been painting and walking relatively close to home in upper Canonicito.  Consequently most of her references are of the nearby area.

Eldorado Knitting Club – “Knitting”

Eldorado Knitting Club was founded by Joyce Hanmer, their coordinator after she retired from Los Alamos National Laboratories and moved to Eldorado.

The social meeting is for anyone in the Eldorado area who enjoys knitting. No specific skill level is required to join the group.  No dues are collected. There are many different skill levels in the group and there is always someone who can answer your knitting questions.  The size of the group has fluctuated over the years; currently with approximately 15 to 20 knitters on the roster.

Meetings are held Tuesday mornings from 10:00-12:00, averaging eight to 10 knitters present.  We usually meet in the Eldorado Community Center in the living room, but with Covid-19 current meetings have been held either outside in the Community Center courtyard, at Vista Grande Public Library or on Zoom.
