Shifting shelves

There are teams of volunteers working to make it easier for you to find things you want. These projects are now completed, and you will continue to see a number of improvements through the next few months:

Recently-Acquired-Literature (RAL) – These books had previously been shelved against the front wall of the library and marked with bright orange tape. They have now been moved into the main collection, but they are still marked with orange tape. If you’re interested in cookbooks, for example, you’ll find them together in the “641” area and you’ll be able to spot things recently added by looking for the colored tape on the spine.

Books on CD – The audiobooks on CD have been moved against the front wall of the library. They can be checked out for 28 days, with a limit of 3 at a time.

Nonfiction DVDs – These have been separated from the general DVD collection. The fiction DVDs are organized by title as before. The nonfiction DVDs are now organized by subject (921 for biographies, 500's for science, etc.)

Music CDs – With funding from the Albert I. Pierce Foundation, we recently installed new cabinets to hold the CD collection of music. CDs are organized by genre so that you can easily find what you want – classical, jazz, etc.

VGPL-to-GO audiobook program – We have over 400 audio books that are available for you to listen to when you check out a VGPL iPod player. These books are now organized by genre (such as “Fantasy and Science Fiction,” “Nonfiction,” “Books for Youth and Children,” etc.). Review the lists in the VGPL-to-GO binder, or on our website (Library catalog >Catalog tab >Resource Lists (in left column) > Public Lists tab – then click on the VGPL-to-GO list that interests you).
