VOLUNTEER

The Vista Grande Public Library depends on the community for its financial survival and the majority of its staffing needs. We are always looking to add to our family of dedicated and congenial volunteers, both adults and teens, and may have something to pique your interest.  

Volunteer opportunities may include:

• Circulation – greeting patrons and processing check-ins and check-outs
• Cataloging – adding materials to the collection using our library management system
• Cataloging support - barcode materials, cover or laminate books, repair materials
• Children’s programs – after-school reading, story hour, and summer programs
• Special Events – helping with fundraising to generate our operating dollars (e.g., book sales, Ice Cream Social)
• Administration – copying, envelope stuffing, and data entry that isn’t dull
• Technical support - help with monthly PC and Mac computer updates

Library volunteers meet bi-monthly on the second Tuesday of the month for training and orientation.  Volunteer meetings for 2010 are as follows:

• January 12
• March 9
• May 11
• July 13
• Sept 14
• Nov 9
