Our Wish List

Vista Grande Public Library is in great need of the items listed below. Here are several ways you can help:

• Directly donate an item— You can purchase an item(s) from the supplier of your choice for delivery to Vista Grande Public Library, or if you have a good working condition used item, please drop by our offices during our working hours and discuss your donation with the Library Director.
  
• Let us purchase an item for you  using one of these options:
  
  1. Telephone us at (505) 466-7323 with your credit card number, or
     
  2. Print our donation form, specify the item you wish to be purchased, and mail with a check or credit card information to our office.
     
  3. Make a donation online, selecting "Wish List Item" in the Donation Purpose pull-down menu. Please list the specific item(s) you wish to donate in the Additional Notes box.

Equipment & Furnishings

• LCD monitors
  Our computers get heavy use, and the monitors are needing to be replaced.  If you have upgraded your home or business computer recently and no longer need the LCD monitor, please bring it in for others to use.  We would prefer LCDs that are 15” or larger in size.
• Large popcorn popper - Thanks to a generous donor, we received this item in November!
  We are routinely hosting over 40 people for each of our movie nights, and it’s a challenge to prepare enough fresh popcorn to go with our movies.  A large popcorn popping machine would be immediately put to good use!
• Computer station chairs [$150 each]
• Portable CD Players [$50]
  Patrons will be able to check out these players in order to listen to music CDs and audiobooks.
• Outdoor sandwich signs for special events [$??]
  Our current signs are old and require frequent repair.

Library Collection

• Travel books (recent)
  If you have taken a trip recently and are now able to share the guidebook that got you there, please donate it to the library.  We need to replace the 1990’s editions that have been on our shelves, and get more current information available.  This will help not only travelers, but also students who have assignments on geography.
• BBC Shakespeare Comedies [$135]
  5 DVDs: The Taming of the Shrew, The Tempest, A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Merchant of Venice, & As You Like It
• BBC Shakespeare Tragedies [$135]
  5 DVDs: Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, Macbeth, Julius Caesar, and Othello
• BBC Shakespeare Tragedies II [$135]
  5 DVDs: Antony & Cleopatra, Coriolanus, King Lear, Timon of Athens, Titus Andronicus
• Cirque du Freak book set [$200]
  Set of books for teens that are in high demand.

Services

• Garden maintenance
  VGPL needs a committed volunteer or two or three to maintain our entry garden.
• Sidewalk snow removal
  VGPL needs a volunteer to routinely shovel snow at the entrance and on the sidewalk between the Library and school.
• Window cleaning
  We would like indoor and outdoor window cleaning once or twice a year.

Capital Projects

• Our library addition [$1.5 million]
  An addition to the library was designed several years ago, but the State and County have been unable to provide financing. The new space would enhance our collection space, as well as offer much-needed classroom and meeting space.
• Septic tank [$??]
  Our current septic tank is undersized, requiring frequent pumping. A new tank would be sized for our current facility plus the future addition.
• Library sign on Avenida Torreon [$6,000]
  This sign would provide more visibility for the Library and allow us to advertise upcoming events.
