Posted 1 Sep 2018: Art at VGPL for September: Dirk Wales

The Vista Grande Public Library (VGPL) will host an illustrated photo essay entitled Inspiration and Storytelling: Creating Children’s Books by Dirk Wales, September 1-29 in the library gallery. The exhibition originated as an article in Pasatiempo in 2016 and was then turned into a type of photo essay by the Santa Fe Library. Dirk Wales’ work as children’s literature author is the major focus of the VGPL show.

Wales has written numerous books including A Lucky Dog, the story of a dog who became the mascot of the US Post Office Rail Mail Service, and Jack London’s Dog about London’s pet who became the inspiration for the classic, The Call of the Wild.

VGPL is pleased to share with our patrons this unique exhibition about inspiration. Meet the author at a reception September 21 from 4-6, enjoy light refreshments and browse Wale’s books, which will be available for purchase.

The VGPL exhibition series is for the enjoyment and edification of patrons when visiting the library located south of the El Dorado Community School, on 14 Avenida Torreon, Santa Fe, NM 87508. Library hours are 10-6 Tu,-F and 10-4 on Sat. Exhibition art will be on sale by the artist and available to the purchaser after the close of the show. The library will receive a sales commission benefiting operations and library programming.
