At VGPL’s Annual Membership meeting on January 26, 2010 members heard an overview of VGPL’s accomplishments in 2009 from President Ann Jenkins and Board members (presentation).

Ann recognized Board members who have completed their three-year terms: Jack Abernethy, Marcel Legrendre, and Steven Rosenthal; each was given a gift with a picture of them at work on library fund-raising events. New Library Director Tina Stephenson was introduced to the membership, and VGPL volunteers were thanked for their efforts on behalf of the library. Attendees provided good input on library plans for 2010.

At this meeting four Board members were re-elected to three-year terms: Jack Abernethy, Pam Geernaert, Richard Hall, and Joyce Pohl. One new Board member, Diane Thomas, was also elected.

Rudy Garcia, Project Manager for the County of Santa Fe, provided an update on the County’s work to provide a portable building to extend library space. When complete, this will greatly improve the library’s ability to provide programming for youth and adults while reducing the congestion and noise in the reading/computer areas of the library.

At the Board meeting following the Annual Membership meeting, Board officers were elected as follows: Ann Jenkins, President; Larry Lemmon, Vice President; Diane Gulseth, Treasurer; and Mary Arnold, Secretary.

The Board approved the 2010 budget and passed new policies for Patron Programming and Conflict of Interest; these are posted in the Policies section.
